I've been married 23 years to Simone (happily), with whom I have two kids: Cole and Caroline, and 4 dogs (all spoiled). I've been with Build over 5 years in multiple roles, prior to which I was President at Hansgrohe and held several leadership roles at Home Depot.com. I like to travel and spend time with my family as well as play tennis, golf, and ski. Additionally, I really enjoy serving in our local Chico community, and I'm excited to see Build.com play an even bigger role through our Build Gives Back programs.
I joined Build.com in 2008 where I began my career in Sales, then successfully grew the HVAC and Plumbing Divisions before moving into the role of VP of Operations. In July 2018, I progressed to oversee Build.com's marketing and merchandising strategies as EVP. I earned a degree in Business Management from California State University, Chico and I have over 15 years experience in the home improvement industry. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and am an avid cyclist.
I am a Build.com veteran leading the Merchandising Team in its pursuit to offer the best digital experience in the home improvement space (and beyond!). I began my Build.com career on the Sales Team and saw a stint on an international venture before settling into Merchandising, giving me a well-rounded view of the organization and industry. Chico started off as my college town but quickly turned into my hometown after landing the sales gig at Build and meeting my future wife. The community, the town, and more importantly Build itself keeps me motivated and engaged. Ultimately, my mission is focused on the employees of the company and winning alongside them.
Prior to joining Build, I spent 8 years as Director of Digital Marketing for Walmart. During that time, I held various creative and digital marketing leadership positions with a focus on building search, social, display, mobile, and marketing analytics capabilities. I helped pioneer several omni-channel strategies that aligned with customer online behavior to drive traffic and sales, including piloting local inventory ads with Google, programmatic retargeting, mobile location-aware conquesting, native content distribution, and social moderation/customer care via Facebook.
Consider me to be homegrown. I've lived in our amazing town of Chico for most of my life. I graduated from Cal State Fullerton (Go Titans!) with my Bachelor's degree in Accounting and eventually went on to get my MBA. My 8 years with the company have been a whirlwind of positions, and if I've learned anything it's that there is never a lack of opportunity for those who are willing to step up and take responsibility. At work, I'm focused on providing as much value to the company as I possibly can. Outside of work, I'm chasing around my husband, two kids, and two dogs! I work to live and my family is everything to me.
I've been with Build since 2014, when I moved to Chico from New Jersey. I'm married to Brev, a Chico native, who I met at Union College in New York. We have two children together, Brev and Jack. I was one of the few "outside" hires at Build.com, having come from across the country and outside the home improvement industry. I immediately loved the entreprenuerial spirit at Build.com, which abides despite its maturity and scale. I enjoy playing basketball in a league as well as coaching my children's teams. I absolutely love what I do for Build.com and enjoy coming to work each day to a company that continues to evolve and bring value to the home improvement space.
I have been with Build.com since 2009, almost all of that time in our Customer Contact Center. I am passionate about home improvement and the overall customer experience. While I have had the fortune of working in several different facets of our business, I am most fulfilled by leading my teams to raise the bar and reach their full potential.
I would describe myself as someone who forges a new path through a diversely wooded forest—be that via a book, on a bike, or here at Build. I'm always looking foward to the future to start crafting a vision and strategy that I can push our teams toward. With an MA in English and previous experience at a real estate company doing online marketing, I initially landed at Build in 2012 doing SEO and content marketing. Quickly, I found myself doing a mysterious unnamed work we've now termed "Product Management." I can now be found reading the tea leaves and driving our product teams to the exciting future we at Build are zooming toward.
I’ve lived in Chico for the majority of my life and graduated from Chico State with a BS in Biological Sciences. After a brief diversion into studying Computer Science, my wife and I moved to San Rafael to join the tech bubble. Of course we didn't know it was a bubble at the time, and when it burst, we hightailed it back to Chico and I started a career at Chico State as a staff member in the Information Technology department, where I remained for 10 years. I started my career at Build in July of 2013 in a Marketing role, specifically to serve as a bridge between the Business and the Development teams. As I became more and more familiar with the various teams, I took on more “bridge jobs” until one day there was a whole department of Project Managers creating bridges between departments. In my current role, I continue to focus on building bridges through shared understanding of what our business does, how it does it, and what we want to do next.
I started working at Build.com as a Sales Representative in September 2015, after leaving my career as an Elementary School Teacher. Taking care of the customer through their entire project was my passion and within 6 months, I moved from a Consumer Sales to a Pro Sales position. My educational and sales worlds collided when I moved to HR as a Sales Trainer. Today I on-board new sales reps, create sales trainings, teach leadership and communication classes. Your career at Build.com is what you make it, the sky is truly the limit!
I have been at Build since 2011 and I never dreamed I would get to experience in my professional career what I have here. I come here everyday loving the people I work with as well as the job I get paid to do. The fact that I started as a PPC Clerk and I am currently a Senior Manager, shows that Build.com is committed to investing in its employees by promoting from within while still hiring externally. The culture and environment here are truly one of a kind. Not only do we embody "Work Hard" on a daily basis, but I know first hand that we know how to "Play Hard" too. From our Holiday and Summer events to birthday lunches, there is never a shortage of fun times to be had. I truly believe Build.com nurtures these work relationships so that the company can be stronger and we can all be more productive. Twerk on.
My time at Build has been both challenging and rewarding. Even though I started here with only one year of work experience under my belt Build.com invested in me from day one. Build has given me great training and opportunity; enough so that I was promoted within my first year. I really love my job, the people I work with and the city that I live in.
I started at Build back in January 2013 as a Senior Software Developer. I was truly excited to experience the fast-paced and fun culture that Build provides. Within a year I had my own team of developers and now I oversee a large part of the software engineering efforts. Build is really a place where you can be the change that you want to see in the company.
