We are headquartered in Chico, California, the company employs more than 700 people most of which are all in office. This year we are looking to adventure into other locations as well as expanding our isles.

The position

We consider our software developers to be the heart of our team.  Team Leads play a critical role in driving the success of our platforms.  We are an agile development group consisting of small teams of individual software engineers, working in a fast-paced environment.  We value flexible team leaders that are focused on the professional and technical growth of their team members while participating in all aspects of the development process.  Team leaders guide developers through the ever-changing landscape of code and frameworks, keeping a keen awareness of individual developers’ passions and desires to work on what interests them.  Team leads take initiative to motivate team members through team building events and the positive evangelism of company and department goals.

What are you going to do

  • Lead a team of software engineers by assisting with their professional and technical development.

  • Participate as a member of a product team.

  • Write clean, modular, performant, well tested code.

  • Assist in defining coding standards and guidelines for developers to follow.

  • Participate in code review as part of a thorough, PCI-compliant SDLC.

  • Provide constant feedback to engineers via 1-1’s.

  • Perform performance reviews as specified by HR and assist in an employee’s improved performance or their departure.

  • Set a positive example for others to follow - you will always be on stage and your behavior will set a standard.

  • Be self-motivated with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.

  • Grow the engineering team by participating in the interview and hiring process.

  • A strong desire to help others succeed.

  • Foster an environment with a high degree of trust and transparency.

What are you going to bring to the table

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or an Engineering discipline. Equivalent experience will be considered.

  • A hard-working critical thinker who can communicate clearly to various stakeholders, 

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.

  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of the organization's business strategy and the rationale behind it.

  • Experience with technologies including but not limited: NodeJS, React, React Native, Express, TypeScript, webpack, restful APIs.

  • Experience with Java, Spring Boot, SQL, RabbitMQ, NoSQL databases, Docker, Microservices architecture are a plus.

  • Experience with CSS and CSS extensions such as SASS.

  • Ability to effectively prototype and experiment with technologies.

  • Strong problem solving and time management skills.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple job tasks simultaneously.

  • Experience working in Agile development teams and processes.

  • Experience working collaboratively within Product Teams.

  • Self motivated with the ability to inspire and motivate a team

  • Ability to effectively engage and motivate large groups  

  • Adaptable and proactively able to move with change while maintaining a positive attitude

  • Demonstrated project management experience

  • Manage up 

  • Leading by example and embody our values 

  • Ability to have hard conversations - i.e. payroll, negative EMP, etc.

  • Develop your team - which includes: hiring, firing, etc.

  • Conduct 1:1 meetings with employees
