Our Interview Process

We are glad you are here to learn more about our interview process at! If you are selected to move forward this is what you can expect to see in the coming weeks! Plus, Build is glad to offer you these tips to complement the assessment. Of course, your core values may vary, but these tips can be applied to any organization’s core values. Before the tips, check out this brief run-through of the recruiting process.

How many interviews?  

A qualified candidate can expect a three-stage process after applying for a position: a recruiting phone interview, an onsite skill-set interview, and a final onsite interview. These interviews and assessments allow the recruiter and hiring manager to be absolutely sure that the candidate has the skills needed to do the job, and is a culture fit for the team and company. Both aspects are crucial to the success in our hire.

The Phone Interview:

  • 20 to 45 minutes phone call
  • Hosted by a recruiter
  • They will call your phone number provided.
  • Look forward:  Within 72 hours an email will be sent to you regarding your next step in the interview process.

The OnSite Skills/Technical Interview:

  • Tour the campus we have created
  • 30 to 45 minutes (Face to face interview or Zoom interview (if you are unable to travel to one of our locations))
  • Hosted by the hiring manager and Recruiter
  • Look forward: Within 4-5 days after your interview you will be emailed with next steps.


Technical Interview: (Technology/Technical Roles)

  • 30 to 45 minutes
  • Hosted by the hiring manager and up to 2-3 other members of the team in both one-on-one and group formats.
  • Primary objective: To get an in-depth assessment of your technical skills.
  • Depending on the role, you may also meet with stakeholders across departments as well.

The Final Onsite Interview:

  • 45 to 60 minutes
  • Hosted by:  2 Stakeholders each conduct a 30 minute interview.
  • Look forward: Within 1 week you will be contacted about next steps.

Tips to prepare for your interview:

We want to make sure that everyone at Build is set up for success, even potential Buildies. Here are some helpful tips for your interviews!

  • Learn about our company and the people in your interviews.
  • Do your research on our site, get familiar with it.
  • Prepare a list of questions that you can ask during the interview. 
  • Culture fit is necessary, technical skills may be optional. 
  • Be yourself. We are, you should be too! 
  • Business casual attire during your interviews, no need to wear a 3-piece suit.

What comes after all of the interviews you ask? If you are to move forward in our hiring process, you would be agreed upon by all interviewers. After you have been selected for the position, an offer will be presented then we send you to our HR Ops where new hire paperwork will be completed as well as a drug test.  

Additional interviews (such as shadowing, zoom video, assessment) throughout any stage of the interview process may be added when needed to guarantee a successful and right hire.
